‘Lure’ Self-Portrait

“The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself, with desire for what its monstrous laws have made monstrous and unlawful.” ~ Oscar Wilde

This isn’t part of my 52 week challenge, I just wanted to take a photo of my butt, and voila!  Can’t really have a fulfilling Humpday if you don’t put the hump out there, right?

Happy Humpday! 😉

‘Cure For Lonely’  Self-Portrait

The photography theme for week 33 was ‘From the waist down’.  I decided to go a bit literal.

Have wonderful weekend!

“My mind wanders and I get lost in thoughts of you.” Self-Portrait

The theme for this weeks photo is ‘Mirrored’.

I’ve had this idea in my head for a few days now. I love getting lost in thought. I do that often. Close my eyes and daydream, remembering moments, and fantasizing about new ones. Imagination is a wonderful thing.

I’ve gotta say, it’s difficult trying to keep a straight face when my husband is groping my boobs and trying to make me laugh. That….and having a boner resting against my back side. It happens. The things I have to suffer through for my art. No, no… don’t feel bad for me, I asked for it…over and over again. 😀

I love going through the photos after I take them and finding stuff like this. lol

Cravings ~ Self-Portrait

The theme for this weeks photo is ‘Leading Lines’.

I like all the angles and how there are many lines created from the windows, curtains, bed, and sheets. What I don’t like is that the corner of my room isn’t centered between those two windows, it throws it off. Granted, that window on the right side is centered on the wall it is on, and the window on the left side is balanced out with another window on the wall that it is on. I suppose it would bother me if they weren’t balanced there, even if that meant the corner lined up behind the bed. Hmmmm…. Maybe it’s OCD? Maybe I need a square room instead of a rectangle one, maybe with no windows….and padded walls, because I’m clearly going fucking crazy. :p

Animals in bed! Rwoar! ~ {Self Portrait}

The theme for this weeks photo is ‘night’. I contemplated going outside and taking photos to really capture the true essence of ‘night’, I quickly decided against it because it’s a pain in the ass for me. Getting all my stuff together, finding something to shoot, being alone in the dark. Meh! Not what I enjoy doing. Aside from all that, I go to bed stupid early, 8:30ish…..it’s still sort of light outside when I go. I’m old! That’s why. Shut up! It’s just a matter of time before I start eating my dinner at 4pm. Okay, I may have done that on occasion too.

I wasn’t going to stay up late just to go outside and struggle to find a photo op. I starting thinking about how ‘wild and crazy’ I really am. Going to bed so early, and being too tired to do anything after a certain time. True party animal here! *sarcasm font needed*

That train of thought led me to the above image. I like the contradiction of being animals in bed, but not in the good way. You know I mean sex, right?

When we bought our house 9 years ago we decided to change the four bedroom floor plan and convert it into three bedrooms.  We took two of the rooms, knocked down their walls, and made the Master bedroom….you know, because we weren’t going to have any more kids. Yeah…. well… we decided to have more kids. Hindsight.

12410525_506072709574157_3819981238099935051_n

For real!!

Now having four kids and only three bedrooms, guess where the little two kids sleep? In our room, where that other room used to be, only now there is no wall for privacy. Awesome, right? No!

So no, we are not animals in bed! Now…. the bathroom, garage, basement, kitchen, living room, car, and backyard are another story. We are animals there! Rwoar!

The Keyhole ~ (Self-Portrait)

At the beginning of the year I decided to take on a photo project for 2016. It’s 52 weeks of photos, that’s one image per week….in case you’re bad with math.  The group I’m a part of supplies the ‘theme’ for every week,  each photographer can interpret it however they see fit. This weeks theme is ‘Focal Point’.

I’d like to say that I took this self-portrait through the actual keyhole, I can’t though. I didn’t have enough room, also… I was too lazy, and too impatient to come up with a backup plan to make it work. Truth! I’m lazy, and all for shortcuts. So this is two shots that I took and merged together in Photoshop.  I think what I love most about this shot and idea is that I didn’t have to clean any part of my room to take it. You can’t see the unmade bed, the clothes I just took off bunched up behind me,  piles of laundry, kids toys etc. Don’t you love how I can take a sexy photo and ruin it with the truth? lol

You can check out all of my photography on Flickr, including all the images for this project as well as other images I took just because I felt like it.

I’m happy to say that I did complete my 52 week project for 2015. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep up with posting them all here on the blog.  Unlike how this year will be, those were all self-portraits. If you want to check those images out, you can see them all in this Flickr album.

52 Weeks Of Photos ~ Weeks 9, 10 & 11

The last few weeks have been a bit busy with kids, chores and school vacation etc.  I would like to blog more often and will eventually but spread a bit thin at the moment.  However… I have been keeping up with both of the photo challenges I signed on for.  I’ve surprised myself by not giving up yet.  I already have a list of excuses ready as to why I won’t finish the full 52 weeks.  I’m trying really hard not to use them though.  Really hard!

So here is a wrap up of the last few weeks.

For week 9 my SOOC (straight out of camera) photo is a picture of my kitty Frosty.  We have two cats. The other one is named Winter.  I know, original names eh? Bet you can’t guess what color Winter is…yeah, white of course! I’m sure you thought that was a trick question.

It probably wasn’t smart to get two white cats when most of my wardrobe is black. I look like a crazy cat lady when I leave the house covered in fur.

For my week 9 themed photo challenge I needed to do “Movement/Motion”.  If anyone is interested in taking part in this challenge you can read about it and join here #VoTogs52 Challenge.

We have had and will have a few birthdays coming up over the next few months so my SOOC photo for week 10 was just a simple candle shot.

SOOC (week 10)

SOOC (week 10)

The challenge for week 10 was “Music”. The only time I usually get to listen to my music is early in the morning when I’m doing my makeup. Everyone else in the house is sleeping, I put on my headphones and just enjoy the me time.

Music (week 10)

Music (week 10)

Saint Patrick’s Day inspired my week 11 SOOC photo. It took forever for me to find a shot glass in my house. I also found a bottle of whisky unopened that I received as a gift about 5 years ago. I feel like I should drink more. That way I never have to struggle to find props again.

SOOC (week 11)

SOOC (week 11)

The photo theme for week 11 was “Contrast”. I copped out on this one. This was just a test shot I had taken to see what kind of light I could get using a snoot on my strobes. My kids have been ill so I really wasn’t inspired to go and fiddle around with photos and take a better shot. So I settled…whatever! It still fit the theme and it’s not like I’m getting paid to do these projects so I can do what I want. Right? Yes, yes I can!

Contrast (week 11)

Contrast (week 11)

I think that catches me up for now.  If you want to see more photos or these photos above in a larger format you can find me on Flickr here. I’m a bit more social there and tend to ramble in my descriptions. So if you get really bored and want to read more of the crap I say that’s a good place to go.

Do You Flickr?

So do you?  Do you Flickr?

If you think “Flickr” is a new sexual term than you probably don’t.  Sounds like it could be though.  Maybe just because it rhymes with “lick her”.  Yes…lick her!   I always get side-tracked and head right to the gutter.  It’s comfortable there.

So… this Flickr thing.  The short answer is that Flickr is a place for photographers of all skill levels to post their photography.  Like an online photo album and image hosting website.  It’s more than that, but that’s a quick description.

Why do I ask?

Flickr is where I’ve been spending most of my time lately which is why my blog has fallen to shit in the last year.  I have been posting my photography and socializing there quite a bit.

I mostly do self portraits but I shoot other random things as well. This year I took on two 52 week photo challenges.  A 52 week challenge is where you take one photo a week for the entire year.  So basically a photo a week for each challenge that I joined. If you are good with math than you will know that means I’m doing at least two photos a week. :p

One challenge I’m part of has a theme for each week and I have to take a photograph each week that fits the theme.  For example…last weeks theme was “Asian Inspired”.  The photo below is what I came up with.  The images can be of anything that fit within the theme, I just prefer self-portraits.

The other challenge I’m doing are images that are “SOOC” (straight out of camera).  What this means is that I do not digitally retouch, crop or enhance the photos in any way.   Any “special effects” that you see are created in front of or on the lens itself. Here is what I’ve done so far.

On occasion I post photos just because I feel like posting photos.  I can do that! See?

Up to this point I’ve kept my writing and photography a bit separate.  Not sure why. Maybe I just didn’t want you to fall in love with me.

The point of this post is….

Does there need to be a point?  Probably doesn’t hurt to have one.  Sooooo…. I will be posting more photography here and I also added the cool little “Flickr” widget to the blog so that my images will automatically show up here on the right side of the page…… or the bottom of the page if you are on your phone etc., when you click on an image there it will bring you to my Flickr account.  Or you can click here. I should warn you…. I’m not fully nude in any of them.  Bummer…I know.  But I think leaving a little to the imagination is always nice. 😉

“Type hard. Like you mean it!”

I give the illusion that I’m sexy and people believe it. You can fool them too!

let-yourself-go

I know what you’re thinking. “But Dye- you are sexy, what could you possibly mean?”

Even if that’s not what you are thinking, I’m going to pretend it is because it makes me feel better. Fair enough?

Anyone that knows me knows that I try to keep the sexy in my marriage. It’s too easy to slip into a pool of comfort and forget about taking care of yourself. I’m not saying you shouldn’t be able to just be comfortable, but is frumpy housewife where you want to be everyday? If so, good for you..really,  but that’s not for me.  My husband has always told me that I’m out of his league and I like to live under the illusion that I am. It’s far from the truth, but why try to prove him wrong on this subject too.  The man has suffered enough!  Truthfully – him saying that to me is just one of the many reasons I fell in love with him.  So take note guys, women like hearing that shit.

So I’ve been getting comfortable lately. I’m pretty sure I’ve been wearing a hat everyday for the past two weeks because I haven’t made the time to do anything with my hair. Don’t get me wrong, I can make a hat look sexy – trust me – if you add pigtails and tell your hubby to call them handlebars… it really changes how you view things… if you know what I’m saying. But I don’t want to fall into this stream of comfort and not put the effort in from time to time.

As much as I enjoy spending the day in yoga pants while rocking my husbands free nerdy tech-conference T-shirt, it brings me down…..mentally. And don’t act like you don’t have that same sloppy shit in your closet.  When I walk by the mirror in that outfit, all I think is, “What the hell happened to me?”  I’m a vain person, and I like to look good. Not a day goes by that I don’t at least put some makeup on, I have standards- damn it! They are just low, really, really low.  To quote Tom Cruise in ‘Risky Business’ – “Sometimes you gotta say – What the fuck?” and put some damn effort into yourself and just admit that you’ve never done yoga and you never fucking will- so get off your ass and get dressed…in some real clothes.

Listen– Like most woman, I have body issues, nothing weird like shit growing in strange places issues, but issues nonetheless.  I’ve had three kids.  Right now I weigh about 20 lbs more than I did a few years ago. I’m not saying I’m fat or that anyone at my weight is, but you need to be happy with who you are, and I love the skinnier me better.

I would like to say it’s all baby weight, some of it is left over from that…but to be truthful…I stopped exercising about 2 months ago and then I ate my feelings. They were delicious by the way!!! And fucking worth it.  Sort of.  At the time.  But not really.  Needless to say, I’m back to exercising. Things I’m not loving about myself right now– that area that spans from right below my boobs to just below my hips, and my ass…and arms…and other various parts that are not as tone as they once were.

Wanting to feel better about myself I took action. Do you want to feel sexier? I highly recommend getting boudoir photos done of yourself, even if you don’t have body issues. But if you find that you cover up everything to spare showing the stuff you don’t like then do yourself a favor and make an appointment.  If you go to a professional and splurge, you might just love yourself again. The right photographer will put you into positions that will accentuate the good and hide the bad.

For the most part I usually feel sexy but lately I’ve been kind of meh and been feeling a little old. I decided to do some suggestive boudoir-ish photos of myself. Yes, I’m that talented – try not to fall in love with me. 🙂 What I wanted was something that made me look sexier than I actually am and I wanted to feel good about myself when I looked back on the photos. I also wanted images that I could flash at my husband and say “Got any naked pictures of your wife?” (Of course he does!)

My goal was to cover up the stuff I don’t like and just focus on what I do like. You would think there would be more boob shots, because if you know me at all you know I love my boobs. I wrote a post about them here if you missed it. Remember that just glimpses of skin while being subtle can be very sexy. Here’s what I got.

I love that my ass is blurred out and my stomach doesn't show.

Garters and stockings can instantly sex up an outfit. I'm just wearing an oversized sweatshirt here but still covering everything I'm not fond of.

This one was more for my hubby's viewing pleasure. It's suggestive, even though I was struggling not to drop the camera in my crotch. See? I'm all kinds of sexy. lol The less you know the better.

I have a board on Pinterest of some subtle boudoir photos if you want some ideas. I chose them as images that I would like to mimic or recreate down the road. If you take a look at them you can see that most of them are sexy but cover up quite a bit. Feel free to check out my other boards while you are there, just be warned that some of them are downright dirty in nature.

So if you lost your sexy. Go get it back. It misses you.
