photography~ Short People Problems

Self-portrait 28/52

This is how I feel every time I get in my SUV. 😀

We recently bought a 7 passenger SUV for me, because….kids.  As soon as I saw it I loved it, it’s a fully loaded Nissan Armada, Platinum addition. We bought it used to avoid car payments, you’d never know it was used though because it is in pristine condition, which made me want it even more.   It is however, a beast!  It’s so big in fact that even with the seat fully raised and the pedals moved up as far as they can go, I can’t see over the damn dash board. The struggle is real my friends.  Being 5′ 1″ has it’s perks, but in this situation….not so much.  Let’s just say that I have Googled “adult car booster seats” on more than one occasion, for real!  I’ve had the SUV for a few weeks now and am happy to say I’ve gotten used to driving it, with a thick pillow under my ass to lift me up…of course.

Alternate title: Flying Fuck! 😉

A few years ago someone shared this song with me, ‘Desire by Meg Myers’. I’ve been holding onto it and finally felt inspired to shoot an image to go with it.  I’m a big fan of songs with dirty lyrics and interesting videos. Enjoy!

photography ~ I’d kill for some company

Self-portrait 11/52

“If you have never lost your sanity, then you have never been in love.”

My week 11 of 52 self portrait.  I decided to partake in this weeks ‘Self Portrait Sunday’ event with ‘The Art of Self Portraiture’ community over on G+, the theme is ‘Love’.

This photo is lyrically inspired by the song ‘In Boxes by Aurora’, I’ve been wanting to do a photo to this song for a few years now. If you haven’t heard it, give it a listen, it’s a bit twisted… I like twisted. 😉

Some of the lyrics:

“Here I am still lonely with the souvenirs
I would kill for some company
I did once have a lover only kept his hands
They can dance and play the songs for me
Play until I sleep”

What’s this image have to do with love?  Well… I’m a fan of hands and the way they can make you feel. I’ve often told my husband that when he dies, or when I kill him… I’m keeping his hands. The man has magic fingers, but even aside from the many sexual pleasures they provide, they offer a sense of intimacy that I’ll never tire of, a closeness that even in silence can be felt with something as simple as putting his hand in mine. Sigh… (let me have my girl moment here).  Hand holding is where it’s at!  So much so that when I had my friend with benefits (when I was single),  hand holding was on my list of no-no’s.  It’s just too….intimate and caring, don’t care about me, just do me! Hee… I clearly have issues!

This….right here:

“Have you ever really held the hand of someone you love? Not just in passing, a loose link between you – but truly clasped, with the pulses of your wrists beating together and your fingers mapping the knuckles and nails like a cartographer learning a country by heart?”
― Jodi Picoult

On a lighter note, his hands belong to me, I’m keeping them…forever!

Like always, all of my images can be seen bigger on Flickr.  If you follow me on Instagram, I’ll be posting the SOOC (straight out of camera) version there, flaws and all.

Self-portrait 10/52

I’ve had this song, ‘Oh Ms. Believer, by Twenty One Pilots’ stuck in my head for the past week. I kind of love it and have been overplaying the fuck out of it.  Felt like I needed an image to go with it.

Happy to say I’ve made it 10 weeks into this self-portrait challenge and haven’t wanted to quit yet, that’s saying a lot. Only 42 more weeks to go!   Damn, that sounds overwhelming when I say it out loud.  I’ll just stop saying it out loud I guess.  Week 10, done!

Happy Valentine’s Day

“The thrill of the chase moves in mysterious ways….” Self-Portrait

Hello there…

I must admit, I woke up in a fantastic mood! Feeling a bit frisky today, more so than normal. Can’t say it’s because it’s Valentine’s day though, because… well… so what? It’s just another day, and as much as I love being in love, and in lust, and having loads of sex…. today doesn’t provide any more of those things than a typical day would. Although I’d totally be on board with tons of extra sex today. Just throwing that out there in case my husband reads this. *come home early*

I don’t really think that I’m the romantic type, don’t get me wrong… I wouldn’t turn down a nice quiet night filled with dinner and flowers, but if it doesn’t end in sex I’m probably going to be disappointed. Yes, I’ve been told often that I’m like a guy when it comes to sex, but just because I tell you to get out and grab the money off the dresser when you’re done doing me, doesn’t mean I don’t love you. I’m kidding, I don’t pay… just get out.

Told you, I’m in a fun mood today, in the spirit of Valentine’s day, I’m probably going to send as many distracting text/sext messages to the hubby today, because sending nudes and dirty messages is just part of what keeps marriages alive. I highly recommend you try it, just make sure you’re sending them to the right person… trust me on this one… double check because the last thing your mom wants to see is a photo of your junk, so I’ve been told. Sorry mom.

What about you all, any big plans today? Did you even know it was Valentine’s day, do you care?

If you are struggling with what to say to that special man in your life, I find that this works:

And remember…

Like usual…. All of my photography can be seen bigger on Flickr, you know… in case you need to see me life size.  We both know Photoshop is my friend, so I try to keep the flaws to a minimum over there, but here’s a before and after, because… I’m not flawless in real life.

52 Weeks Of Photos ~2016~ Week 24

‘Mustang’ Self-Portrait

The theme for this weeks photo is ‘window’.

After I post a photo on social media I’ll occasionally have someone ask me what the original photo looked like, or what I did, or didn’t add in Photoshop. Last weeks photo for example prompted some questions from a few people. So I figured I’d share some behind-the-scenes (BTS) from this weeks image and from last weeks image.  Sometimes I do a ton of Photoshop work, other time I keep it simple. Personally, I love when people share anything from BTS, I learn a lot that way.

Here is this weeks:

Testing the light in my basement… that’s my stand-in so that I can get my focus right. Used one strobe light in back, pointing towards it.

BEFORE…..Straight out of camera (SOOC), more often than not I have to remove nipples. lol

AFTER….Some minor Photoshop work and a few filters added.

Here are a few from last week. Mostly to show the small space, because that was what everyone asked about.

Standard ceiling height, window to the left and the right.

Test shot for lighting. Nothing fancy, was too lazy to set up strobes. Kept the over head light on and put my flash on the camera to soften shadows, bounced it off the ceiling. Good enough.

Making sure I was in focus.

AFTER….Faux wall and some touch-ups.

…and there you go. I don’t have many blank walls to shoot against, so I have to get creative.

52 Weeks Of Photos ~2016~ Week 13

The Keyhole ~ (Self-Portrait)

At the beginning of the year I decided to take on a photo project for 2016. It’s 52 weeks of photos, that’s one image per week….in case you’re bad with math.  The group I’m a part of supplies the ‘theme’ for every week,  each photographer can interpret it however they see fit. This weeks theme is ‘Focal Point’.

I’d like to say that I took this self-portrait through the actual keyhole, I can’t though. I didn’t have enough room, also… I was too lazy, and too impatient to come up with a backup plan to make it work. Truth! I’m lazy, and all for shortcuts. So this is two shots that I took and merged together in Photoshop.  I think what I love most about this shot and idea is that I didn’t have to clean any part of my room to take it. You can’t see the unmade bed, the clothes I just took off bunched up behind me,  piles of laundry, kids toys etc. Don’t you love how I can take a sexy photo and ruin it with the truth? lol

You can check out all of my photography on Flickr, including all the images for this project as well as other images I took just because I felt like it.

I’m happy to say that I did complete my 52 week project for 2015. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep up with posting them all here on the blog.  Unlike how this year will be, those were all self-portraits. If you want to check those images out, you can see them all in this Flickr album.
